We are currently looking for a Regional Business Navigation & Operations Manager to join our IKEA India team in Mumbai (Maharashtra)

 
PURPOSE OF FUNCTION 
To navigate the growth of IKEA and steer the business towards sustained long term profitability by:

  • being driven by the IKEA business idea, culture and values, with a focus on sustainable profitability
  • being a proactive trustworthy partner taking a multidimensional view in becoming the leader in life at home
  • identifying and evaluating business opportunities to enable IKEA organizations to make optimum decisions
  • initiating and supporting the development of new ways of working, with focus on simplicity
  • providing relevant and user friendly business information standardized for all IKEA organizations

 
ASSIGNMENT
 
Customers

  • Ensure our operations cross the IKEA touch points are always a safe and secure environment for visitors and co-workers and that our property is safeguarded.
  • Proactive in using all the information and tools available, to ensure a multidimensional approach to steering the business in order to achieve growth and sustained long term profitability with our customers in focus.
  • Always look at our operations in the IKEA touch Points through the eyes of our customers and walk the shop floor at different times throughout the opening hours, often together with the commercial team. Use this opportunity to interact with customers and co-workers and understand what is working and what is not.

Commercial

  • Work with the leadership teams in the IKEA touch points by supporting and challenging them so we grow our business with sustained long term profitability. This is done by:
  • Proactively working with regional and local market data to understand peoples’ life at home in order to support sales growth.
  • Understanding the IKEA range and commercial priorities in order to support and contribute to the commercial agenda.
  • Working with colleagues to secure the effective implementation of tools, working methods and best practice, in order secure a strong retail foundation and raise our existing base.

People

  • Seen by co-workers in all functions as an approachable, trustworthy and knowledgeable speaking partner who leads by example.
  • Create an environment where the IKEA culture is strong and diversity is valued.
  • Actively lead and ensure a living succession plan.
  • Take responsibility for my own development and look towards the manager and my matrix for support in improving competences.
  • Connect with country Business Navigation and other store BNOMs to share ideas for improving growth and long-term profitability and actively support national and global projects.

Financial

Partner with the Maharashtra Manager in coordinating the Management process. Work together to ensure that the IKEA Touch Points are steered towards common IKEA objectives and executes the commercial direction in an efficient and effective way. This is done by:

  • Actively contributing to the development of the Maharashtra Business Plan, ensuring it is aligned with IKEA global directions, the country’s priorities and local potential.
  • Using my knowledge of the store, our global and country priorities and the local market to support the development of our Regional Marketing Plan and Commercial Strategy.
  • Supporting the management team to create Actions Plans for their areas of responsibility. These are based on the Regional business plan, agreed goals and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Take responsibility to summarize and communicate our Financial Goals (including P&L) to ensure that they are agreed, communicated and clearly understood by everyone.
  • Proactively working to develop the Scenario Plans based on how we will take fast action if the performance is better or worse than planned. Ensure these scenarios are well documented, realistic and communicated.
  • Driving the follow-up process to ensure we focus on delivering the business plan. Support colleagues to achieve their goals. 
  • Communicate relevant business information and goals to managers and co-workers, in a way which engages and inspires them to create meaningful actions to achieve our agreed goals.

Operations
Have the knowledge and ability to partner with the Regional Manager in setting direction and follow up for excellence in operations for all IKEA Touch Points in the Region. As BNOM Work with different matrix managers to ensure
Safety and security - ensuring that the rules and guidelines from the IKEA Group Risk Manual and country legislation are implemented and monitored in order to ensure the safety of our co-workers and visitors and that our property is safeguarded.

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND CAPABILITIES

  • Minimum experience of 10-15 years with a degree in business, finance, economics or a related field. Strong, broad commercial business knowledge and cross-functional understanding
  • Understanding of working in a multichannel environment
  • A strategic business partner with analytical skills who is able to translate business needs into financial consequences and solutions.
  • Be a strong network and relationship builder both within and outside of the organisation.
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency and be result-orientated.
  • Strong problem-solving ability.
  • Create energy and commitments around the growth and profitability agenda.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE

  • Experience of strategic decision-making forums.
  • 10 years' experience of responsibility from business steering or a finance-related field.
  • More than three years' experience as a manager and experience of working in larger international organisations.
  • Sound negotiating skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and maturity.
  • Strong ability to prioritise, provide clear directions and multi-task.
  • Good judgment and the ability take sound and common sense decisions.
