The Assembly Service Team Leader’s primary responsibility is managing and leading a larger and diverse assembly team and providing complete Assembly service package to the customer. This ensures an enjoyable, convenient and complete shopping and buying experience producing positive customer advocacy, which leads to increased sales and sustained long-term profitability.
To be the customer’s single point contact, by partnering with Sales co-workers, Store after Sales Team and IKEA Contact Centre, to support, resolve and ensure assembly is accomplished at the highest level. To assist in developing solutions, providing feedback on all matters of assembly including: planning, completeness of orders, timeliness of assembly and any other customer concerns. Support the efficient easy buying process of simple, Large or complex IKEA furniture or products by supporting the sales team with training and performance data on assembly services.

  • Contributing to positioning the IKEA store as the first choice for home furnishing in your local market.
  • Handling day to day operations of the assembly services team.
  • Providing the Customer a positive experience by ensuring that the assembly Service standards are met or exceeded.
  • Utilizing specialist system product knowledge to manage and assist co-workers in understanding and selling Gateway Services.
  • Partnering with shopkeepers and leading co-workers to influence and support the customer shopping experience by reviewing and sharing ideas of opportunity and development in planning and servicing our customers.
  • Partnering with the Shop Commercial Team to improve service product presentation to ensure it appeals to our local customers and encourages them to buy more.
  • Collecting information on local service product competition to promote IKEA services in ways that best show IKEA’s competitive advantage to customers.
  • Creating an environment of trust by encouraging open, constructive, honest, two-way feedback with my team and other colleagues.
  • Following working routines to reduce costs, maximize sales and profitability by demonstrating a good understanding of policies, routines and procedures.
  • Constantly showing new and inspiring home furnishing solution that motivate people to visit the IKEA store more frequently.


  • Preferred experience in Home furnishing, furniture assembly of all types of simple, large or complex furniture.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the Ability to actively sell through understanding customers and their needs.
  • Ability to assess customer personalities, service standards and knowledge levels during a furniture assembly process and throughout the advocacy phase.
  • Good analytical skills for planning and managing day to day schedules, fixing assembly slots, assisting customers and monitoring sales.
  • Computer aptitude with a good knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel and Word).
  • Ability to handle multiple and changing priorities/deadlines and moderate stress.
  • Strong interpersonal, communications, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a proven experience of managing a team.
  • Proven ability to understand cause and effect of decisions.
  • Actively seeking improved methods of working in a simple, lean and cost-efficient way with with proven ability to work as part of a larger team.
  • A practical hands-on approach to your tasks and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.


  • Ability to handle multiple customer enquiries.
  • Lifting/Handling Requirements - Ability to occasionally move or handle merchandise throughout the location generally 10-20 Kgs. This may include bending, stretching, reaching, and lifting on a regular basis. Any manual lifting over 25 Kgs will require the assistance of other co-worker(s) and/or use of manual lifting equipment.
  • Ability to communicate via in person, phone or e-mail.
  • Standing for most of shift.
  • Walking requirements - Freely move across all areas of the location such as sales floor, stock area, cashier area and different areas at the customer’s place as per the requirement.
  • Wear PPE (personal protective equipment) where ever applicable; and to use hand tools / small power tools and related equipment.
