We are currently looking for a Product Requirements & Compliance Specialist to join our IKEA India team in Bangalore.



In the role of Product Requirements & Compliance Specialist, you will be responsible to ensure the IKEA product range is sellable and complies with the product requirements specific to the local market. You will also be responsible to secure the handling of product-related safety and environmental issues in an efficient and common way to support IKEA retailers in achieving growth and sustainable long-term profitability.


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the work of ensuring that the IKEA product range sold complies with national product laws and standards in terms of health, safety, environmental issues, quality and product information.  
  • Securing the process for correct reporting and handling of deviations, both internally and externally, and that national product legislations and standards are communicated to IKEA of Sweden AB (IoS) in a timely manner.
  • Working proactively by being involved in external networks in order to follow and influence the development of product laws and standards that could affect different IKEA organisations.
  • Limit the number of sale stops and fines due to non-compliance of national product legislations and standards.



  • Education - university degree in related field is a must. 
  • Experience in working with product quality, product safety and compliance, testing or legal affairs.
  • Good knowledge of the IKEA product range, IKEA Concept and overall IKEA business processes. 
  • Knowledge of business negotiation. 
  • A strong desire to influence, challenge and improve established ways of working.
  • Always striving to work proactively. Good communication and negotiation skills. 
  • Excellent networker who can build relations with national and local government authorities. 
  • Capable of strategic, tactical and operational thinking.
  • Ability to lead, drive and implement projects
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced and future-oriented retail environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to different target groups, internally and externally, as well as experts and non-experts.
